Students do not get a grade 5 or 6 because they are bad at Maths. They fall short of a 7 because nobody prepared them for the real paper.

School trains them for lessons, not for the exam. One teacher, thirty students, and a syllabus that has to be finished whether or not the class has actually understood it. Topics get rushed, gaps quietly compound, and the first time anyone notices is the Year 11 mock.

Extra help at school is thin. Revision guides are generic. A private tutor answers this week's homework, then leaves your child with no plan for the grade. And nobody is telling you, the parent, where your child actually stands until it is too late to do much about it.

That is why I built the GCSE Ascension System: a structured programme focused on real exam training, taught by specialists in each subject. It closes the gaps, builds the routine, trains the technique, and puts real exam questions in front of your child every week. No capable student should lose a grade 8 or 9 to something this fixable.

Maisie went from a grade 5 to a 9

"Maisie had been sitting on a 5 since Year 10 and had started to believe that was just her level. The structure was what changed it. She knew what she was doing every week, her grades kept moving, and she finished on a grade 9. She is now doing A-Level Maths, which we genuinely never thought would happen."

Amrita went from a grade 6 to a 9 in 5 months

"Mandy was an amazing tutor and helped me achieve a high grade in my GCSE after being predicted lower and achieving lower in my mock exams. I managed to move 3 grades up within 5 months! Thank you Mandy for helping me achieve this in a short space of time! I would recommend her to anyone that needs a maths tutor, she is brilliant!"

The GCSE Ascension System

Every student follows this exact path from wherever they are now to a grade 7, 8 or 9.

1

Understand the content properly

We find what was never properly secured in earlier years and rebuild it. Students who plateau at a grade 5 or 6 are not missing effort, they are missing foundations.

2

Interactive live lessons

Small live classes where your child unmutes, shares their working and gets corrected on the spot. Misconceptions are caught the moment they appear.

3

Real exam paper practice

The hardest real past paper questions, worked through with the mark scheme on screen. Students learn what a question is testing before they write anything.

4

Timing, application & work checking

Papers sat under real timing, marked against the real mark scheme, with feedback showing exactly where marks were lost. By May, the exam feels routine.

Students are supported with:

Weekly GCSE Maths lessons

Two live lessons a week, right through Year 11. We work on the topics that decide the top grades, the ones where a capable student drops marks without ever knowing why: harder algebra, circle theorems, vectors, and the multi step problems examiners use to separate a 7 from a 9.

These are live, interactive classes, not recordings. Your child can type in the chat or simply speak up at any point to ask the teacher directly, so a question never has to wait until the end.

Every lesson is built to be easy to follow. Nothing is rushed, each step is shown as it is worked.

Live exam coaching

Real past paper questions worked through under timed conditions, with the mark scheme on screen and every method mark explained.

It is what turns knowing a topic into scoring on it, because students see exactly how their knowledge has to be applied once it appears in a real exam question.

Exam question practice from day one is the key to success in GCSE Maths.

The homework hub, showing weekly instructions and submission steps

Exam question homework set every week to consolidate what was covered in the lessons.

Students are taught how to mark their own work against the mark scheme, so they start seeing their answers the way an examiner does. Every piece is then checked by our marking team.

A GCSE Maths exam paper cover

Every topic workbook and revision resource your child needs, organised by topic and ready to work through.

A worked example alongside the calculator, showing which functions to use

Step by step guides to the exact calculator functions that save time and win marks in the real paper.

Every session recorded and available until the exams, so a missed week or a tricky topic can be watched again.

Your child can message a teacher any day of the week and get an answer back, rather than sitting on a question until the next lesson.

Parents and students are put into a group chat with the teachers, so there is always a direct line to us.

Ask for an update or a progress report whenever you want one, flag anything that is not working, or raise a concern the moment it comes up. You are never left guessing how your child is doing.

A private community on Skool, where your child is around other students all working toward the same thing rather than revising alone.

Questions get asked and answered, and students share the tips and tricks that actually move a paper toward a grade 9.

What makes GCSE Ascension different.

Four things a school, a revision guide and a private tutor cannot give your child together.

1. Real exam training

Schools teach the topic. We train the paper: mark schemes, examiner expectations, timing, and the exact question types your child's board sets.

A past-paper question worked through live on the board

2. Exam specialists

We review hundreds of applications to build a team we would put in front of any student in the country: properly credentialled, and warm enough that your child actually wants to turn up.

3. Weekly homework and feedback

Exam question homework every week, marked and returned with feedback emailed straight to you.

A student working through a real exam question

We built the system we wished we had at GCSE: structured, exam focused and accountable. Training students for the paper they actually sit, not the lesson they sit in. On a short call, we’ll show you exactly how it would work for your child.
